Des is a prolific casting director and is widely recognised as the best 'street caster’ in the UK having discovered talent such as Thomas Turgoose for Shane Meadows' 'This is England’ amongst many others. He won the first ever TV BAFTA for Casting for his work on TOP BOY. Des works with a high calibre of film makers and has his own take on how he approaches casting, making it very unique. His work includes projects such as Lars Von Trier's NYMPHOMANIAC VOL.1 & 2 & MELANCHOLIA, Nicolas Winding Refn’s ONLY GOD FORGIVES & BRONSON, Lynne Ramsay’s MORVERN CALLAR & THE SWIMMER, Claire Denis' HIGH LIFE & STARS AT NOON and more recently Taika Waititi’s JOJO RABBIT, David Michôd's THE KING, Ella Jones' SWEETPEA, Michael Winterbottom’s THIS ENGLAND and Nia Dacosta’s ‘HEDDA’.
