Mai is an award-winning broadcaster and journalist who has spent her career as an anchor in news, politics and current affairs at the BBC, Sky News and ITV, in both TV and radio.
She has also worked as a consultant in the Middle East and South East Asia for BBC Media Action and the Thomson Foundation running masterclasses in interviewing skills for talk show presenters.
She has sat down with Prime Ministers, astronauts, royalty, Hollywood stars, rock stars, adventurers, refugees, criminals, diplomats, extremists, CEOs, aid workers, clergy, scientists, comedians, and thousands of ordinary people with extraordinary stories to tell.
She realised that as she has been listening to real-life ‘dialogue’ every day covering incredible stories, she could take that experience and channel it into creating compelling fiction. She began writing for TV and secured funding for her first spec script. Mai now also writes novels and brings her journalistic nose for truth, a great story, great dialogue and stand-out characters into her work.
